Verne Galen Coon was born near Clarksville, IA on Oct. 29, 1907 and was called at Dixon, Calif., on Nov 6, 1926. Married in May, 1926 to Miss Gladys Warmington. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Coon and spent his early childhood near Clarksville, moving to Faribault, Minnesota with his parents at the age of 12 years, leaving there for California last July, and was on his way to visit is uncles at San Diego when the terrible accident occurred which took his life. Verne was a bright, ambitious boy, loved by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his loving father, mother, wife, two brothers Lyle and Wayne, one sister, Hazel, and numerous relatives and friends. The remains were brought to Clarksville and services were conducted by Rev H.R. Campbell at the Presbyterian church and burial was made in Lynwood cemetery. The pall bearers were Dale and Clark Walsh, Galen Walsh, Eldon Williams, Court Jacobs and Dale Copeland. Relatives attending from away were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Coon, Medford, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Walsh, Nashua, IA., Mrs. and Mrs. Arnold Amick, Shell Rock, IA., Mr. and Mrs. Delos Walsh, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Truax, Mrs. Laura Searles, Mr. and Mrs B.H. Corey, Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Gough, and Mrs. R. Stewart all of Bristow, IA.

The remains of Vern, 19 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Coon of Medford, Minn., who was killed in an auto accident near Dixon, Calif., Nov. 6, were brought here for burial by his parents and funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon. Besides his parents, he leaves his widow, brothers Wayne and Lyle and sister, Hazel. Relatives who came for the obsequies were Mrs. and Mrs. J.J. Gough, Mrs. Harry Searles, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Truex, Mr. and Mrs. DeLoss Walsh and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Corey, Mrs. Maggie Stewart, of Bristow; Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Walsh, sons Dale and Clark of Nashua and the Arnold Amick family of Shell Rock. His grandmother Mrs. Ida Walsh has been with his people in Medford for some time. A company of eighteen relatives (article cut off)

--Accidentally Killed -- About a week ago news came to town that Vern Coon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Coon of Medford, Minn., and well known here had been killed in an auto accident in California. As neas as can be found out it was some time before he young man's parents could be located. Report has it that he was riding, Nov. 6th with a friend on the way to Los Angeles while rounding a sharp curve on the pavement Vern was thrown from the auto and landing on his head and shoulders, his neck was broken. As soon as the father was notified, he left for California to bring the body back to Medford where burial will take place.
