John B. Arenz, 89, of Route 3, died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at St.
Mary's Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with a Mass of Christian Burial at St.
John the Baptist Catholic Church, Lostant. The Rev. William Gardner will
officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Alan
Heider, James Martin, Dale Wolf, Emmett Barr, Oral Smaling, Norman Arenz, Bert
Mohler and Kenneth Straughn.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church.
Mueller Funeral Home, Lostant, is in charge of arrangements.

Born July 23, 1907, in Richland Township, he was the son of John and Susan
(Pflibsen) Arenz. He married Leona Mohler on February 11, 1931, in Leonore.

She survives. Also surviving are sisters, Frances (Mrs. Joseph) Starkey of
Streator and Cora (Mrs. William) Wolf of rural Streator; and several nieces and
nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

He retired from farming in 1983 and lived on the same farm for the past 66
years.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and served for several
terms as a Richland Township trustee on the Board of Road Commissioners.
