She was born June 17, 1929, in Warm River, Idaho, to David Taylor and Zina Iowa Gunter Howell. She was raised in Warm River and attended elementary school there. She graduated from Ashton High School.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission in the Southern States mission from 1953 to 1955. She served in many callings in the church. She earned her Golden Gleaner award while serving as a leader in the Young Women's program. She served for nine years in the Idaho Falls Temple, missing only one day due to stormy weather.
She met John McCord at a dance in Squirrel in 1960. They were married Jan. 11, 1961, in Ashton. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on Oct. 23, 1962.
She worked at the bank in Ashton off and on for 40 years. She retired from the bank in the 1990s. She also worked at the Fremont Co-op as a bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Chubby Chucklers. She loved to quilt and spend time with her friends and family. She loved and was proud of her four grandsons: Nathan, Cameron, Taylor and Andrew.
She is survived by her daughter, Zina Keck of Rexburg; son, Joseph (Allison) McCord of Linden, Utah; a sister-in-law, Pauline Howell of Ashton; grandsons, Nathan (Chelsy) Keck of Salt Lake City, Cameron McCord of Linden, Elder Taylor McCord, currently serving in Mexico City, and Andrew McCord of Linden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 10 brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Ashton LDS Stake Center, 516 N. Second St., with Bishop Todd Smith of the Millhollow 1st Ward officiating. Saturday prior to services at the stake center. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.
