Funeral services for Nancy Hayes Meggs were held Friday at the home and were followed by interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Meggs who was the widow of John L. Meggs and youngest daughter of Eben Hayes and Nancy Dew Hayes, passed away at her home at Marion Wednesday morning, November 18. For a number of years she had been a great but patient sufferer, although her last illness covered a period of only one week, death resulting from a complication of ailments. She was preceded to the grave by her husband 19 1/2 years ago. Also by one son, Samuel Meggs, and two daughters, Mrs. A. L. Tart and Mrs. J. B. McLellan.
She is survived by one brother, John D. Hayes of Mallory; and the following children, Mrs. R. G. Hodges, Mrs. Clara Allen, J. Stoll Meggs (postmaster), Misses Mamie Meggs, Eliza Meggs (county treasurer) and Jennie Meggs of Marion, E. H. Meggs of Mullins, F. M. Meggs of Ocala, Fla. and W. L. Meggs of Jacksonville, Fla. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mrs. Meggs was 77 years old.
