OBIT: Chester Hemphill, 75, of Jacksonville died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday in Meline Nursing Center. He was a World War I veteran. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Congregational Church here. Burial will be in Diamond Grove Cemetery. The body is at Cody and Son Memorial Home here. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thomas C. Smith III of Springfield; two sons, Robert of Jacksonville, William J. of Japan; six grandchildren. He was a retired vice president and trust officer of Elliott State Bank.
"Ches" graduated from Jacksonville High School and the Univ of Illinois (1915). Member of ATO fraternity and a Mason. Member [Pilgrim] Congregational Church. [per church records: membership by letter from Central Christian Church, Jville, Dec. 21 1941]
