He owned and operated Covalt's Lumber in Spring Mills, Pa., and was in Allen Valley CC Camp.

He was a member of Evangel Baptist Church in Hagerstown, and attended Needmore Bible Church.

He sang in the Covalt Family Gospel Group from 1953 to 1978.
