Edgerton - Evelyn Irene Babcock Mishleau Woods, age 87, of 9 Head St., died Tues., May 6, 2003, at the Long Term Care Center in the Memorial Community Hospital, Edgerton. She was born in Edgerton on June 27, 1915, daughter of Henry and Maude (Coon) Babcock.
She married Phillip Mishleau, then she married Richard Woods. He died on Nov. 28, 1977. Evelyn lived in the Edgerton area most of her life. She worked in many of the nursing homes in Rock County. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Milton, where she taught vacation bible school, summer and Sabbath school. She also volunteered her time at the Gathering Place in Milton. She made over 800 quilts and volunteered for meals on wheels. Evelyn also adored her kitty, Popey, very much. One of Evelyn's best traits was that she only saw the best in people. Evelyn especially liked the family gatherings held the past 20 years at the Milton Community Building.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Herbert (Karen) Babcock, P. Jerry (Hazel) Mishleau, Dale "Teeny" (Carol) Mishleau, Ronald (Jane) Mishleau, Wayne (Linda) Mishleau, Charles Mishleau, Ruth (Douglas) Sherman and Neil (Darline) Mishleau; 34 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; a brother Leonard Babcock; a sister, Grace Dickenson; and a daughter-in-law, Geri (Mishleau) Jenson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Woods; son, Harley; daughter-in-law, Sherry; brother, Durwood Babcock; and sister, Ruby Skelly.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Milton, with speaker Mick Burrington officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Albion, WI.
