Mrs. Clara Schiefer, 300 Wisonsin Stret, widow of John M. Schiefer, one-time parochial school teacher, dies last night in West Side Hospital, Milwaukee. She underwent an eye operation and was progressing nicely when she was seized with a heart attack and passed away.
Born in Sheboygan, she was the former Clara Kuehlmann, and her birth took place March 26, 1873. She had lived in Watertown 31 years. She married Mr. Schiefer at Algoma in 1894. Mr. Schiefer died in 1931.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Armin Engel, Lena, Wis. and Mrs. Gilbert Donner, Milwaukee. There are five grandchildren. A brother, John, resides in Sault Ste Marie, Canada, and there are two sisters, Mrs. John Busch and Mrs. William Nesemann, both of Algoma.
Mrs. Schiefer was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and of the Ladies' Aid society. She was also a member of the Watertown Historical Society. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Schmutzler funeral home, with services at 2 o'clock at Trinity church, the Rv. K. Timmel officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evenng at the funeral home and also Monday up to the time of the funeral. The casket will not be opened at the church service.
