Tabitha was the wife of Mirabeau Lamar. When she became ill with tuberculosis, he moved to Columbus, Georgia. While there, he founded the Columbus Enquirer newspaper. After Tabitha's death, Lamar moved to Texas. He became the second President of the Texas Republic.
