He was united in marriage to Jeanette Meyer on Dec. 11, 1986, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Boyd.
He liked to hunt and fish and was always fixing and building something. After retirement he & Jeanette enjoyed taking their fifth wheel and traveling to Arizona during the winter months.
He is survived by: his wife, Jeanette; two sons, David (Kathy) and Steve Geist; two daughters, Linda (Ronald) Spaeth and Joyce Colburn; step children, Dan (Pam) Schmitt, Dave (Ann) Schmitt, Steve (Tammy) Schmitt, Janie (Tina) Schmitt, and Kevin (Brenda) Schmitt; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by: his brother, Theodore Geist; and sisters, Matilda Ramminger and Christine Wundrow.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters Agnes Barta and Francis Geist; and brothers, Joseph, Henry and Raymond Geist; and stepgrandson, Jeremy Schmitt.
Services will be held on Dec. 13 from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boyd, with Fr. Robert Nelson officiating.
