Ernest Asa Bowen, the son of Asa and Hattie (Stoddard) Bowen was born on Oct. 18, 1918 near Red Oak, Iowa and passed away on Feb. 21, 1995 in Holdrege, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 3 days.

Ernest was the fourth of six children in the Bowen family. His family moved to Nebraska when he was four years of age and later settled in Seward, Nebraska.

During World War II he served with the U.S. Army Tank Corps, from 1942-45. After the war he made his home in Holdrege, where he was employed as a mechanic for Al Johnson and later worked for Bunker Hill farms until his retirement.

He is survived by one brother, Frank Bowen of Wheaton, Minnesota; two sisters Ruby McParland of Leesburg, Florida and Betty Dolan of Erie, Pennysylvania and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-Charles and Perl- and one sister, Helen McGuinness.
