She had lived in Detroit for about 50 years and was employed by Hudson's Department Store as a buyer. She moved to Marcellus on March 6, 1961, to Kalamazoo on July 1, 1970, back to Marcellus to live with her daughter and family in March of 1980 and entered the nursing care facility on August 7, 1981.
She was born August 30, 1891 in Pennsylvania the daughter of Frank and Eva (Andzis) Ambros and married James Frank Bailey. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1970.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Kalamazoo.
Surviving are her son-in-law and daughter, Lloyd and Florence Murray of Marcellus; six grandchildren, Mrs. Gary (Carol) Huff, Mrs. John (Nancy) Kaniuga, Mrs. Linda Payton, James L. Murray and Bruce B. Murray all of Marcellus and Paul D. Murray of East Lansing and six great-grandchildren.
Two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Friday April 8 at 9 a.m. in the Romig Funeral Home with Pastor Robert J. Mayo of the Marcellus and Wakalee United Methodist Churches officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery at Danville, Illinois.
Note: Florence was biologically her niece. Her husband Frank, initially married her sister, Agatha, and they one child, Florence. Agatha died when Florence was young and Frank later married Anna and Anna helped to raise Florence.
