MINT HILL - A lifelong resident of Mint Hill, Sally entered her heavenly home on July 20, 2013. She was blessed with a rich and full life of 102 years. Sally was the wonderful mother of nine children, 22 grandchildren, and numerous great-grands and great-great-grandchildren.
She was the eldest daughter of Sebie and Mattie Dorton, and the last survivor of her nine siblings. Sally was married on March 25, 1928, to the late Brice J. Cochran.
In addition to her husband, parents and siblings, Sally was preceded in death by two sons, James and Morris Cochran, and two daughters, Eunice Helms and Doris Kirby.
She is survived by her children, Peggy Robinson, B.J. Cochran and wife, Brenda, Martha Warriax and husband, Mike, Phyllis Crump and husband, John, and Brenda Mullis.
A homemaker of many talents, Sally loved her church, neighbors and friends. She was a special lady to all who knew her. She loved working in her gardens, sharing the fruits of her labor, and took special pleasure and pride in tending to her grand kids and having special moments with them.
A lifelong member of Mint Hill Baptist Church, Sally could be found there every Sunday as long as her health permitted. She was a treasure to all who knew her, and will be sorely missed.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock this evening, Monday, July 22nd, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill.
The funeral service is to be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon, on Tuesday, July 23rd, at Mint Hill Baptist Church, with her pastor, The Rev. Lee Proctor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park in Mint Hill.
The family offers their special appreciation to all those that showed their love, care and concern to her throughout the many years of her life. Memorials may be made to Mint Hill Baptist Church, 7835 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
