Henry later owned and operated his father's flour and saw mills 5 miles out on Unity Road and farmed over 260 acres of land purchased from his father; 40 acres of that land previously known as the Washington Lingle farm and 120 acres previously owned by his uncle, Peter Eddleman. This same sawmill donating the lumber for the building of Saint John's Evangelical Lutheran church by his father John Hileman. A portion of this land was later known as Mill Creek, Union County, IL.
The mill stayed in my family, and operated, Henry's son Jefferson and grandson Edward ran it until 1899
