Mrs. Adeline A. Maltby, mother of Darius V. Maltby, died at her home in Braidwood, early Thursday morning, Aug. 28, 1941, after an illness of about six weeks.

Mrs. Maltby, who was 86 years old, was born in Selston, England, on Aug. 18, 1855. She came to America when a child, and had been a resident of Braidwood for the past 75 years. She was united in marriage to William Maltby, a mine owner and former mine official of Braidwood, who died 38 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Braidwood and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. C.J. Yerly, of LaCrosse, Wis., and Mrs. Wm. Hardy of Joliet; nine sons, William of Cedar Rapids, Ia., Frank of Galesburg, Ill., Richard of St. Peter, Minn., Wesley of Minneapolis, Minn., Darius V. of Plainfield, John of Elgin, Harold and Willis of Joliet and Joseph of Braidwood; twenty grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at her late home on Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, with the Rev. Cochrane officiating. Burial was in the family lot in the Wilmington cemetery.
