DEATH OF MRS. L. N. BLY

This is sad news that has brought sorrow to the entire community. From the picture of health and happiness and then to a few days later death. This is a sad picture of Mrs. L. N. Bly. On Thursday night of last week late in the night Mrs. Bly took seriously ill a doctor was called and they done [sic] everything to relieve her pain and the next day they decided that an operation was necessary and she was operated on about Friday, noon. She recovered from the operation and the operation was a success in every way, but two days after the operation her heart went bad and she gradually grew worse until the end, passing to eternity at about two-thirty, Tuesday, October 12, A. M. Mrs. Bly was confident about 24 hours before the end came that she could not get well and she made careful plans for her funeral. Before the end came those standing by her side could hear her repeat passages of the scripture from the bible and murmuring the song Near to God to Thee, then she gave a good by to her loved ones and shortly afterwards passed out into eternity, and the life of a good mother, wife and neighbor had ended with the exception of a well spent life, which will ever remain as a sweet memory to those who were near and dear to her.
The deceased was never known to have spent a sick day in her life. On the night before she took sick she attended Rebekah Lodge and apparently enjoyed herself to a great extent which was afterwards commented on by many. On the night she took sick they had a party at their home and she did not have an attack till several hours later.
Mattie Lewis Bly was born in Indiana June 10, 1877 and was 49 years 4 months and 2 days old at the time of her death. She was married to Lloyd N. Bly in October, 1900. There was born to them 4 children, 3 sons, Harry, Melvin and Earl, one daughter, Ethel. Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her death, her mother, Mrs. Edwin Lewis, one sister in Canada, two brothers, one living in Wyo. and one in Custer County.
The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 14, in charge, Rev. Meierhoff, pastor of the church and the remains were laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery. At the grave the Rebekah lodge conducted a short service. Deceased was also a member of the Royal Neighbor lodge. The funeral was largely attended and nearly 100 cars were in the procession which attestified [sic] to the high esteem she was held in by everybody who knew her.
Thus ends the earthly career of a good woman who was the mother of three fine sons and one daughter. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved ones in their sad loss.
