-----
Daniel J. Troxel was a son of Ephriam and Susan Troxel, and was born in Carroll county, on Nov. 5, 1874. Like other boys in his station of life, he worked on the farm after reaching a helpful age, and attended the district school in the winter season. On Oct. 22, 1901, he was united in marriage with Miss Frances Graves, of Monon. Some years after the marriage the family located in Mulberry, and for a number of years Mr. Troxel worked at the carpenter's trade with S. A. Lawson. Since the depression came on he had not been regularly employed. Twelve years ago he was elected justice of the peace, an office he has held since then. For a number of years he was the efficient janitor at the school building. He was prominently identified with the Methodist church and Sunday school, having been teacher of the men's Bible class, director of the Sunday school orchestra, and janitor of the church.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Alton Troxel, of Gary; a daughter, Miss Lucile Troxel, music and art teacher in the Colfax schools; two brothers, Edward, of Colburn county, and Noah, of West Lafayette, and one sister, Mrs. George Easterly, of near Geetingsville.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. C. R. Earle, in the Methodist church, Thursday afternoon, and the burial was at Fair Haven.
