Born Oct. 18, 1935, in Glasgow, Ky., he was the son of the late William Mack Smith and Della (Cross) Smith.
He married Carol Russell on Dec. 20, 1952. She survives.
Mr. Smith was a self-employed carpenter and worked at Mulberry Health and Retirement and National Homes in Lafayette. He was a member of Trinity Church of Mulberry, where he served as a trustee, and a member of the Mulberry Community Club.
Surviving with his wife are 2 daughters, Debra Brooks (husband: Terry) and Paula Bennett (husband: Rick), both of Mulberry; a daughter-in-law, Coral Smith of Mulberry; 1 sister, Maxine Hammond; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son Terry; 4 brothers, Kenneth, Stanley, Charles and Joe, and 4 sisters, Ruby Cox, Regina Stevens, Gladys Halsema and Elanor Huffines.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Bodine Funeral Home in Mulberry. Service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Church of Mulberry. Pastor Phil Whisler officiating. Burial at Fairhaven. Memorials may be given to Trinity Church of Mulberry.
