Mrs. Alice Brockington Ferdon, 79-year-old widow of George Walton Ferdon of Nesmith, died Thursday only a few minutes after she walked into Johnson Memorial Hospital at Hemingway where she had come for admission.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Nesmith Baptist Church by Rev. Burton Haselden. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church thirty minutes prior to the services.
Pallbearers will be John Nesmith, Tom Stuckey, Harley McCutchen, Mitchell Heidt, Frank Brockington, and Ray Powers.
Mrs. Ferdon was a daughter of the late B. F. [Benjamin Franklin] Brockington and Sarah Cooper Brockington of the Morrisville section of Williamsburg County. She had lived at Nesmith most of her adult life and was a member of Nesmith Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cary Tisdale of Nesmith and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson of Lake City; two sons, D. W. Ferdon of Crestview, Fla., and W. S. Ferdon of Charleston; three sisters, Mrs. W. J. Cooper Sr. of Nesmith, Mrs. L. L. McCullough of Brunswick, Ga., and Mrs. C. W. Anderson of Savannah, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
