Harold W. Brubaker, 90, of 708 Lincoln Manor, Altoona, formerly of Duncansville and Canan Station, passed away peacefully early Wednesday afternoon at his residence with his wife and son at his side.

Known to some as "Jase," he was born in rural Duncansville, son of the late Ward H. Sr. and Martha A. (Stom) Brubaker. He married Nova R. Brubaker on July 9, 1955, in rural Roaring Spring.

Surviving are his wife of more than 56 years; a son, Ronald W. of Altoona; a brother, James E.; and two sisters: Rhoda and Ethel "Thelma" McGinnis.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Harold was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving with the 3427th Ordinance Maintenance Co. stationed in the South Pacific Theater. He retired as a machinist from the Samuel Rea Car Shop of Conrail in Hollidaysburg. He was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren and had attended Leamersville Grace Brethren Church.

Harold enjoyed watching football on television, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Gilden Barton Funeral Home, 1401 Ninth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, by the Rev. Mark E. Lingenfelter.

Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery, rural Duncansville.
