Sallie Louise Stevens Hooper went to her heavely home Sunday, March 21, 2004, after several years of debilitation illiness.

She was born May 3, 1927, in Asheville, the daughter of the late Zollie and Maude Stevens. She was also preceded in death my her two beloved sisters, Lois McCall and Mary Ayo. She was a member of the Mills River Presbyterian Church and a member of the Pisgah Chapter #198 of the Order of the Eastern star.

She lived in Mills River area, where she married her husband, the late Walter G. Hooper Jr. (Buddie). They moved to Transylvania county in 1947. She was employed by the U.S. Postal service as a rural route carrier for 25 years.

Her family and friends were the loves of her life. Her smile, cheerful outlook and positive attitude were blessing to all who knew her. She loved her Atlanta "Braves" and spend many a summer day watching them play. She loved her flowers and watching the birds from her front porch. She was an amazing cook and baker, passing down her favorite recipes to family and friends.

Survivors include her 2 sons and their wives, 2 daughters and their husbands, 6 grandchildren and their spouses; and 10 great grandchildren. She was also survived by two dear sisters, and one dear brother; her dear brother-in-law and sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at 7-9 PM. Tueday March 23 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. A memorial will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday, March 24 in the chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Jones will officate with grandson, Cary Bryan Hall giving the eulogy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Masonic Eastern Star Home, 700 S. Holden Road, Greensboro, NC or to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital in Greenville, SC.
