Zollie Stevens

Zollie Otto Stevens, 66, of 56 Bellview Rd., Baltimore, died yesterday (July 8th) in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow (July 10th) in Buena Vista Baptist Church with the Rev. William Nelson officiating.

Masonic rites and burial will be in Mills River Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Stevens, Mitchell Stevens, Eugene Shope, Thomas Baldwin, Walter Dockers and Ronnie Breedlove.

The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services.

Mr. Stevens was a native of Buncombe County, a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church, and a member of Hendersonville Masonic Lodge. He was the son of the late Charles and Lulu Freeman Stevens. He was the Great, Great, Great, Grandson to Revolutionary War soldier Captain Frances McCorkle. His first wife, Maude Matilda Baldwin Stevens died in 1939.

He was a well-known dairy farmer in the Mills River section and owned Banner Farm Dairy and was a retired brick mason.

Surviving are his widow, Molly Stevens; five daughters, Mrs. Louise Hooper of Brevard, Mrs. Lois McCall of Abbeville, S.C. Mrs. Mable McCurry, Mrs. Mary Ayo and Mrs. Edna Stone, all of Washington, D.C. one son, Charles of Asheville; and one step-son, Carter Billings of Forbes, N.J.; three brothers, Harry, Joe and Edward, all of Asheville; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
