Bill E. Beard, 75 years old and Monroeville, Indiana resident since 1961, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne. He had been in failing health since August of 2011.
He was born on Tuesday, July 21, 1936 in Van Wert County, Ohio the son of the late John W. Beard and the late Marie M. (Allmandinger) Beard. He married Shirley A. Adams on November 30, 1958 in Delphos, Ohio and she passed away on August 28, 2001.
Bill served in the United States Army.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Monroeville where he had served as a trustee for many years and he was also a member of the American Legion Post 420 in Monroeville.
Bill retired in 1986 as a mechanic from Phelps-Dodge with thirty-three years of service and had also worked part-time for the NAPA store in Monroeville.
Surviving are his daughter, Diane K. (Kenneth) Harris of Monroeville; daughter, Rita M. (Daniel) Scott of Monroeville; son, Bill E. (Sandra) Beard of Fort Wayne; daughter, Jacque R. (Raymond) Diedrich of Monroeville; brother, Russell (Bonnie) Beard of Convoy, Ohio; fiancee, Virginia A. Bauman of Monroeville; special nephew, Rick (Deb) Beard of New Haven; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildern.
Preceding Bill in death were four brothers; Richard, Carl, Robert, and Leo Beard and one sister; Lola Beard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the Monroeville United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Walus officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, Monroeville, Indiana.
Friends will be received from 1 to 9 p.m., Friday, April 20 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, in Monroeville and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to Monroeville United Methodist Church or the Cornerstone Youth Center in Monroeville.
