ARRESTED ON GRAVE CHARGE

R___ Krueger Awaiting Examination Regarding Fatal Injuries of Richard Bolder

FUNERAL MONDAY

Deceased Born In Europe And Came To This Country In 1906 - Served In U.S. Army

R___ Krueger, of Gleason, was placed under arrest yesterday afternoon following the death of Richard Bolder, of Gleason, at the Ravn hospital at 11 o'clock, from injuries received when the Krueger automobile and the Bolder motorcycle came together on the detour road from Merrill to Gleason, at a point near the John Mondike place two miles southeast of Bloomville.

Mr. Krueger is charged with manslaughter in the fourth degree. It is said that his automobile was without lights and in the left rut of the road. The Bolder motorcycle, according to a witness who saw the motorcycle about 15 rods from the place of the accident and before the collision occurred, had a light. Bolder, it is said, talked immediately after the accident, saying to Krueger that the latter had driven without lights and had broken Bolder's legs through this carelessness.

Krueger was in county jail this morning awaiting examination.

Preliminary examination of R___ Krueger will be conducted next Tuesday morning in county court.

The complaint sworn out against him charges him with driving a car on the public highway at night without lights and charges him with causing the death of Richard Bolder through lack of proper precaution.

District Attorney Ralph E. (unreadable) was not informed of the accident yesterday until an inquiry was made at his office at about noon from the Herald office regarding the case. He stated today that in all cases of accidents on the highway in which anyone is injured, the district attorney's office should be notified. In Wednesday evening's accident, which occurred at 9:30 o'clock, the notification should have been the same evening, in which case particulars might have been obtained from the dying man and also a visit to the scene of the accident could have been made before the car and the motorcycle were molested. As it was, the Ford car was hauled off the scene to the Ronis garage at Gleason early yesterday morning, and had been taken apart by the time the officers could make an investigation. The motorcycle remained on the scene but several of the tools and parts had been taken away by unknown parties. Relatives of the dying man were notified late yesterday morning and arrived at the bedside shortly before he breathed his last.

As far as could be learned today, the motorcycle was on the right edge of the road, the side car touching the farthest edge of the roadway. It is said that the motorcycle and side car showed that the automobile's left wheel had struck the motorcycle sidewards between the motorcycle and the side car. Bolder it is said was pinned under the auto. The road was reportedly wide at this place and while grass grew over a part of the roadbed, it is said that the grass was low and the road passable over all its width.

24 Years Old

The deceased was born in Latvia in 1897 and would have been 25 years old Tuesday, July 25. He came to the United States in 1906 and had served 26 months in the American army at Camp Grant. He was a carpenter by trade and Wednesday evening had left a neighbor's for his father's place to help the latter in haying, when the accident happened before he reached his father's place. The motorcycle which he had, was purchased at Wausau this spring. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bolder, by a brother, Robert Bolder of the town of Schley, and four sisters, Mrs. Charles Kruming, town of Schley, Mrs. John Brikowski, Bloomville, Mrs. John Olsen, Blind Slough, Ore., and Miss Erminie Bolder, Portland, Ore.

Funeral Services

Funeral services for the deceased will be held Monday, July 17, from the home of the brother, Robert Bolder. A Lettish pastor from Chicago will probably officiate. Burial will be at Gleason cemetery.
