NB: Joel Cyrus Ranney is NOT the Civil War vet who is buried in Franklin Co. Ohio. That Ohio Civil War Vet, Joel Harrison Ranney (1839-1917) was the son of Sylvester Ranney (born c. 1810), who was likely a brother of Joel Ranney Jr. Joel H. Ranney was NOT married, had no children, and was living in the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors home in Erie County Ohio in 1900 and 1910. In contrast, Joel Cyrus Ranney, who did have children, was living in Cloud County Kansas in 1900 and 1910, and there is no evidence he was in the Civil War.
Joel and Elizabeth had the following unmarried children:

Abiah (1839-1879)
Sarah (1841-1852)
