POSTOLOSKI: Fred Postoloski, 61 who had farmed in the Vauxhall district about 30 years was instantly killed on Friday evening Aug 6, when the 1 - ton truck he was driving missed a cement irrigation bridge a few miles north of town and plunged into the ditch.
Fred Postoloski, long-time farmer of
the Vauxhall district, met death
Friday evening in a highway accident
two and a half mile*
north of town.
The farmer was driving his
truck home after a business
visit to town and upon reaching
a new bridge spanning the irrigation
canal north of town on
the road to Scandia, it went
over the railing and plunged
into the canal. The driver of
the vehicle was carried in the
cab into the water.
Douglas Hart of Vauxhall,
was near the scene of the accident
and pulled Mr. Postoloski
from the water. The RCMP
was notified, artificial respiration
was applied and the farmer
was removed to hospital at
Taber. He was dead on arrival.
Fred was born in Rusian and leaves to mourn a widow, Rhona and 2 sons, Willie and Fred Junior and step-son Mike Paskal. Funeral services were held in Parkview United Church with interment in the Vauxhall Cemetery, on Tuesdaym August 10, with Miss W.F. Davis officiating.
