THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, December 29, 1978: "Thatus L. Morris of 366 E. Kaufman died Thursday at 12:08 p.m. at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bonham. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Steele and Thomas Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Meadowbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Morris was born Aug. 26,1924, at Broadway, son of Charles Morris and Laura Ester (Randell) Morris. He married Monita Geneva White in 1946 in Hugo, Okla. She preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 1962. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Belmont Baptist Church. Survivors include his father. C. E. Morris of Paris; one son, Lonnie Morris of Paris; four daughters, Mrs. Sherry Johnson of Henderson, Mrs. Monna Gail Mathis of Texarkana, Mrs. Joan Holder of Commerce and Mrs. Carolyn Ann Payne of Dallas; three brothers. Jimmy Morris of Rt. 2, Paris, John Morris of Bonham and C. O. Morris of Irving; five sisters, Mrs. D. E. Brooks of Honey Grove, Mrs. J. C. Derrick of Paris, Mrs. Geraldine-Lancaster of Fort Worth, Miss Billie June Morris of Paris and Mrs. JoAnn Dunn of Dallas; and two grandchildren. The family will be at the home of Jimmy Morris, Rt. 2, Paris.
