She was born October 31, 1910, on a farm near Montezuma, Iowa, the daughter of Bert and Ida Mitcheltree Johnson. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school near her home and was a 1929 graduate of Searsboro High School. Following her education, she worked for various Grinnell businesses.
On May 3, 1937, she married Rex Leroy Millslagle, in Oskaloosa, and the couple made their home in Grinnell. She was employed as a sales clerk at the Broadway Department Store, Joseph's Jewelry Store, and later at Graham's Department Store. She retired in 1980.
She was a member of the Heritage Club, Grinnell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and the Soroptimist International.
Waunita and Rex enjoyed dancing to the "Big Band Era" music. She also enjoyed following the University of Iowa Hawkeye basketball team and taking care of her home.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Jean Johnson of Grinnell and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Alvin, Theodore, Bert, Jr. and Edward Johnson; and four sisters, Genevieve Bennett, Pauline Mitchell, Virginia Johnson, and Ruby Halbloom.
