SERVICES TODAY
Mrs. Sarah Ungry, 70, a resident of Emerson for 20 years, died at her home there Saturday morning at 7 o'clock from infirmities due to her advanced years. While she had been feeble for some time she was only confined to her bed for one week.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Baptist church in Emerson with Rev. Mr. Stille, pastor, in charge. Serving as pallbearers were: Harvey Hascall, Walter Short, Ray Hicks, G. Cheney, Chas. Vestal and Ray Fields. Burial was in the Emerson cemetery.
Sarah McLaughlin was born in Ohio November 14, 1863, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin. She was married in the state of her birth in 1883 to Ellra Ungry. They moved in an early day to Fredonia, Kansas, and in 1915 moved to Emerson, Iowa, where they have lived since. Mrs. Ungry was a member of the Baptist church in Emerson.
Mrs. Ungry is survived by her husband, Ellra Ungry, now living at Auburn, Nebr., and four daughters and two sons. They are: Mrs. Mettie Mart, of Hamburg; Mrs. Bessie Douglas, of Emerson; Mrs. Cressie Boelling, of Red Oak, Mrs. Lessie Hodges, of Sidney; James Ungry, of Emerson; and Vernon Ungry, of Red Oak. Sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive. She is also survived by one brother, Edward McLaughlin, of Centralia, Wash.

Mrs. Sarah Ungry, mention of whose serious illness was made in last week's Leader, passed away at her home in Emerson early Saturday morning, following a several weeks illness. She was lovingly cared for during her last illness by her son, James, and daughter, Mrs. Geo. Douglas, who were with her constantly all of the past week.
Mrs. Ungry had lived in Emerson and vicinity since 1901 and by her exemplary Christian life and good neighborliness, endeared herself to all who knew her.
Funeral services were held in the Baptist church in Emerson Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were largely attended by old friends and neighbors as well as the the sorrowing relatives. Mr. and Mrs. I. N. Cheney, Mrs. W. H. Cramer, and C. D. Greenwood with Mrs. H. E. Greenwood as accompanist, sang two songs dear to the deceased and J. W. McLain sang a solo.
The services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. F. Stille, who preached the sermon and gave a touching eulogy to the life and influence of this good woman. Many beautiful flowers testified to the loving remembrance of relatives and friends. Burial was in the Emerson cemetery. The pall bearers were W. C. Short, H. C. Hascall. H. C. Hicks, Chas. S. Vestal, Gilbert Cheney, and Ivan Salmons.
The following obituary was given:
Sarah McLoughlin was born Nov. 14, 1864 at Richmandale, Ohio, and departed this life Nov. 24, 1934. At the age of four years she moved with her parents to Elk county, Kan. where she resided until her marriage with Ellra Ungry, July 19, 1884. In May, 1901, they moved to Mills county, Iowa, which has been her home ever since. To them were born six children — Mrs. Will Mart of Hamburg, James Ungry and Mrs. George Douglas of Emerson, Mrs. Cressie Boelllng and Vernon Ungry of Red Oak, and Mrs. Roy Hodges of Sidney, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 14 great grand children, one brother, Ed McLoughlin, of Centralia, Wash., besides other relatives and many friends who sincerely mourn her passing.
Mrs. Ungry united with the Baptist church in Emerson Jan. 18, 1914 and has been a faithful member all these years both in attendance and support. She will be greatly missed.
