HISTORY OF ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA:
************************************
Lorenzo, at an early age, began to study
for a ministry of the Baptist denomination.
On the completion of a course of theological study he was ordained to the profession he had selected for his life-work.
Afterward he held various pastorates both
in the east and in the central states, including a prominent charge in a church in New York City.
A desire to aid in the religious upbuilding of the growing regions further west led him to accept a call to Illinois and for twelve years, from 1863-1875, he served efficiently as pastor of the Baptist Church at Galva.
On December 1, 1885 the family arrived in Tustin and purchased a cottage in town.
In 1901 he and his wife came to Santa Ana.
As a minister he was earnest, sincere, and, consecrated, well versed in the Scriptures and fervently solicitous for the salvation of souls. After two years spent in the south he retired from active ministerial work and removed to California where his last days were passed.
Though retired from the ministry, he frequently filled pulpits in the absence of the regular pastor and in many ways he showed his deep devotion to the cause of Christianity.
Lorenzo and Angelina, with their faith and confidence in things eternal, brightened the sunset of their lives.
When old age had brought its benediction of peace, they passed out of the earth-world into that land where pain and parting cannot again cleave the sole.
