Raymond was the son of John and Elizabeth Phillips. On 12 May 1919 he married Suzanne Toyer in France and they had two children, Harry and John. Suzanne died in 1936 and about 1945 he married Irene Willman Greenhill. They also had two children, Raymond and Rita. Raymond was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I (Ind. Cpl. 486 Aero SQ). He was the owner and operator of Phillips Grocery and also a farmer. Raymond died of heart disease at the Lexington Veterans Hospital at the age of 77.
