The Tacoma News Tribune, July 9, 1957:

Music Teaching Nun Is Stricken

Sister Mary Niceta, O.S.F., 66, a member of the Franciscan Order for the last 48 years, died Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Preston, Mo.

During a residence of 15 years here she taught music at St. Leo's High School.

Surviving are her stepmother, Mrs. Leona Hartnett of Sedalia, Mo.; two brothers, Alfred and Dee Hartnett, both of San Diego; four sisters, Miss Cleo Hartnett and Miss Ruth Zaringer, both of Sedalia, Mo., Mrs. Mary Haesman of San Diego and another in Idaho; and an aunt, Mrs. Pearl Edwards, of Cross Timbers, Mo.

Solemn Requiem High Mass will be offered at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Hospital Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Gaffney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Grace Mabary received word from Mrs. Pearl Edwards and Martha Ann who have been in Tacoma, Wash. the past three weeks at the bedside of her niece, Sister Faye Hartnett, that she passed away July 8. They attended services July 11 for her. Burial was there. Fay was the daughter of Dan Hartnett formerly of Preston and lived there while a small girl. Many friends will be grieved to know of her passing. Mrs. Edwards and Martha will go on to Pasco, Wash. where they will visit Mr. and Mrs. Al Davidson and sons before returning to Missouri.
