Norma Alice Beyerlin Speelmon

"Memorial service for Norma Alice Speelmon, 87, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clark Fork United Methodist Church. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Speelmon, who was born in Vida, Ore., died Oct. 19.

She was the youngest of 10 children [twin of Norman A. Beyerlin], and grew up in Oregon. She lived in Coronation, Alberta, before moving to Goldendale, Wash., where she graduated from high school in 1935. She attended beauty school and later owned a shop in Cottage Grove, Ore.

In 1941 she married Melvin Speelmon while he was serving with the Army Air Corps and they later moved to Clark Fork to raise their family. Mrs. Speelmon enjoyed attending school sporting events and traveled to all the state sports tournaments.

She had worked as an Avon lady in Bonner County for many years and served the area from Pack River to the Montana state line. Mrs. Speelmon also made huckleberry jam, apple butter and various desserts for the Litehouse Restaurant in Hope, Idaho. She later demonstrated salad dressing for Litehouse Salad Dressing Co. and also worked in the Ruen potato fields in Clark Fork.

Mrs. Speelmon was a lifetime member of the Clark Fork United Methodist Church and the Clark Fork Homemakers Club. She enjoyed bridge and pinochle.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include three children, Douglas and Lewis Speelmon, both of Clark Fork, and Sandra Speelmon of Sandpoint; a brother, Wilfred Beyerlin of Ferndale, Wash.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
