Ibbie Victoria (Vick) Salyers Sims Hicks was one of eleven children born to George Thomas and Sarah Katherine Austin Salyers. She was a native of Russell County, but had lived the last 34 years of her life in Powhatan County, Virginia. She attended the Full Gospel Church of God in Ballsville, Virginia.

Note: For most of her life, Ibbie Victoria had celebrated her birthday on May 24, only to find later in life that she was actually born on June 2.

Sarah and George married on 10-06-1911 and from this union, they had 11 children: Martha Lucinda Slayers Boothe, John William "JW", Bessie Frances Salyers Boothe, Bill Thomas, Charlie Dolphus, Ibbie Victoria Salyers Sims Hicks, Myrtle Anne Salyers, Munsey, Cookson, Dodd; Effie Mae Salyers Warren, Henry Ford, Robert Nathan, and Margaret "Maggie Salyers Austin, Terlikowski."

Vick married George William Sims on March 28, 1938 in Dickensonville, Grayson County, Va. From this union, there was one child Curtis Gene Sims. She had two step children, James Franklin Sims and Bessie Sims Mullins Elswick. She married Jack Patton Hicks in Feb. 1944. From this union, there was one child, Jack Patton Hicks, Jr. He passed away at age 15 in Powhatan County, Virginia from an extended illness. Vick was a housewife.

At her death, Vick had three grand children by her son, Curtis and his wife, Opal Boothe Sims.

At her request, Vick was buried in the Hicks Family Cemetery in Russell County, Virginia.
