In memory of my cousin Rebecca Jane (she usually went by "Becky") who was the daughter of William and Mary (Moore) Duckworth and was born near Farmersville, Black Township, Posey County, Indiana on June 14, 1856. Rebecca had nine brothers and sisters: Aaron, Mary Elizabeth, Lawrence, Margaret Ann, Solomon, Ella, Harriet, Thomas and Emma. Three of her siblings died at an early age: Harriet, Thomas and Emma. Rebecca spent her youth on the family farm and attended school in the area. In 1875 the family moved across the Wabash River to Gallatin County, Illinois where her father established a farm near Bear Creek, not far from the hamlet of Omaha. Becky never married. It is not known what occupation she persued. By 1910 the census records that Becky was living in the home of her sister Ella and her husband Robert Payner. Robert had established a farm in Latimer County, Oklahoma. She died May 7, 1911 in Oklahoma and was interred in the Old Talihina cemetery in LeFlore County, Oklahoma.
