Mrs. Paul (Gladys) E. Mahnke, age 92, a Manitowoc resident, died on Wednesday
morning, May 5, 2010, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.
Gladys was born on Aug. 30, 1917, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Charles H.
and Rose (Seibel) Tills. She married Paul G. Mahnke on June 6, 1938, in
Manitowoc.
Gladys was a 1935 graduate of Lincoln High School. She was a member of First
Lutheran Church, past member of the Elks Ladies Auxillary, and the Manitowoc
County Visually Impaired Support Group.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years: Paul G. Mahnke, Manitowoc; two sons:
Charles R. Mahnke, Sturgeon Bay; Robert P. Mahnke, Manitowoc; five
grandchildren: Jeffrey (Dr. Jennifer) Mahnke, Vancouver, Wash.; Timothy
(Jennifer) Mahnke, Columbus, Ohio; Lisa Goodman, Columbus, Ohio; Deborah (Pete)
Micolichek, Fond du Lac; Christine (Bryan) Doran, Columbus, Ohio; 12
great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. Cousins, nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her
parents; one sister and brother-in-law: Bernice and Kenneth Mueller; two
sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: LaVerne and Al Jansky, LeRoy and Esther
Mahnke.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the
Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc. Burial of her
cremated remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends
may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services
at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or the
Manitowoc County Visually Impaired Support Group.
