Frank James Welch, 88, of Akron, died Sunday (Oct. 11, 1987) at his home in Akron.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. The Rev. Edmond Adams officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Akron under the direction of the Schroedrer home of Akron. The rosary was recited Tuesday at 4 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of America and a prayer service held at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Pallbearers were James Welch, John Welch, Joe Welch, Leonard E. Welch, Bernard Welch, Jr., and Robert Myers. Tim Kelley, soloist, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art" at the prayer service, accompanied by Carol Harris.

Mr. Welch was born January 4,1899, in Westfield to William and Elizabeth Foley Welch. He married Lucille Lowe Sept. 1, 1930, in Elk Point, S.D. They farmed near Westfield all of their married life and retired to Akron in 1978. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Leonard J. of Houston, Texas, Eugene of Crofton, Neb., and Bernard of Akron; a foster son, Robert Mook of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Emmett and Jesse, both of Akron; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one foster great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ella, and four brothers, Robert, William, Raymond and Joe.
