ELMER THOMPSON Birth name most lilely was Hiram Elmer.

Elmer H. Thompson, 71, a former town and school official who lived at Rt. 1, Reedsville, in the town of Rockland, died Wednesday at Maple Crest Sanitarium where he had been admitted earlier in the day. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Valders, the Rev. Jerry Moe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born November 8, 1885 in the town of Rockland, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Thompson. He married the former Aletpa(Aletta) Geraldson of the Town of Manitowoc Rapids June 15, 1911 and settled on the homestead farm where he lived all his life. The couple farmed until two years ago. He served several terms as treasurer of the Town of Rockland, treasurer of the school district, treasurer of Our Savior Lutheran Church and was a member of the Brotherhood. He was also a director of the Rockland Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and in 1956 was honored by the Holstein Association at the state convention at Madison as an outstanding breeder of Holstein cattle. He was one of the original purebred breeders in Manitowoc County and a member of the association for more than 40 years.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Clayon Nelson of Caledonia, Minn., Mrs. Roger Myhre of West Allis and Mrs. Arthur Newell of Lancaster, Ohio; a son, the Rev. Conrad Thompson, of St. Paul, Minn.; four brothers, Martin of Bremington, Wash., George of Reedsville, Anders of Gilman, Wis., and Ruel of Rt. 1, Valders; two sisters, Mrs. Christina Paulson of Valders and Mrs. Bertina Hammas of Valders and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Berge Funeral Home, Valders after 3 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday when the body will be moved to the church to lie in state to the hour of service.
