Gil shattered his right knee cap in Sept 1934. All his remaining life he would have a stiff leg. While in the hospital he caught a staff infection which caused an extended stay. During that stay Gil's Father, Henry died. Gil was transported via ambulance to the Graveside Service of his Dad in Northwood Cemetery then returned to the hospital to convalesce. Gil loved many things, principally: Photography, Artistry & Fishing. Posthumously Gil inspired this author to pursue Photography. Gil was my Uncle and my life's inspiration. He died when I was I was 8 yrs old however his photographs continue to instruct. The self-Portrait of Gil Allen on this page was hand colored in lieu of color film.
