Word was received from Helena on Monday morning announcing the death of Mrs. Power, wife of Senator T. C. Power, after a serious illness of several weeks. The announcement brought sadness to the hearts of many oldtime residents of Fort Benton and vicinity, whose friendship and esteem for Mrs. Power extends over a period of many years.

Mrs. Power was a sister of the late M. A. Flanagan, of this city, and made her first Montana home in Fort Benton. About two years after her marriage at Dubuque, Iowa, in 1867, Mrs. Power came to Fort Benton by steamboat route up the Missouri river, this city being her home until 1878, when Mr. Power's business interests required their change of residence to Helena.

Mrs. Power was for many years one of the social leaders of Helena. She was also noted for activity in work connected with the Roman Catholic church, to which she made many splendid donations. Since the erection of the House of the Good Shepherd in Kenwood, Mrs. Power was president of the auxiliary and took much interest in the organization.

Her old friends speak of her great devotion to them and of her high integrity and unfailing kindness through the years. The esteem in which she was held was shown in the gift two years ago, when Mr. and Mrs. Power observed their golden wedding anniversary and the employes of the associated stores presented them with a golden loving cup which she prized highly.
