Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter -- 2 June 2011:

"Sister Violata Junk, age 95, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Wednesday morning, June 1, 2011 at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.

"The former Florence Junk was born on November 15, 1915 in Athens, Wisconsin, daughter of the late William and Anna (Schmidt) Junk. She entered the Convent in 1930 and professed her vows in 1936.

"Sister Violata earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc. Sister Violata served as an elementary teacher at Sacred Heart, Oshkosh, Sacred Heart & St. Boniface, Manitowoc, Corpus Christi, Sturgeon Bay, St. Joseph, Alverno, St. Mary, Clarks Mills, St. Mary, Reedsville, Wisconsin and Covered Wells, Sells, Arizona. She also served as an aide in the Visual Aids Department at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, for 10 years and performed a variety of services at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Since 2001, she had been residing in St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.

"Survivors include The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister: Josephine Theyerl, Francis Creek; and a brother and two sisters-in-law: Raymond & Mary Junk, Rita Junk, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

"Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Fr. Finian Zaucha, OFM with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc."
