Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Revs. Donald Buhrman and Sidney B. Bruggeman will officiate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Greeley. T.J. Finn and Sons Mortuary of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Nowak was born March 25, 1927, on the family farm in the Mount Pleasant area of Greeley County, to Edward and Eleanor (Zulkoski) Jurzenski.
Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bill and Margie of Lincoln, Mike and Lea Anne of Grand Island and Tom of Greeley; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary and Frank Stepanek of St. Paul, Patty and Bill Paxton of Superior, Ann Nowak of Greeley and Karen and Frank Kuta of St. Libory; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Steve Dubas of Fullerton and Elaine and Fritz Foltz of Greeley.
Delores was raised in Greeley County and attended District No. 19 Country School. She graduated from Greeley Sacred Heart School in 1944. Delores taught in rural school for five years in Greeley County.
On April 12, 1948, Delores was united in marriage to John L. "Jack" Nowak at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The couple made their first home on the farm and then moved into Greeley. Delores was a homemaker and raised her children before working at the Greeley County Assessor's Office, Spalding Hospital for six years and then at Stepp's Grocery store for 10 years.
The couple spent 62 years of marriage together before Mr. Nowak passed away on Sept. 29, 2010.
Delores was a member of the Greeley Sacred Heart Church, where she belonged to the Altar Society. Delores enjoyed dancing with the love of her life, Jack. She also enjoyed fishing, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended many of her family's school functions and sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; a son, John; a great-granddaughter, Marie Eidson; a great-grandson, Cal Stepanek; and a brother, Bernard Jurzenski.
