George Schubert and Miss Lucille Higgins were married in a quiet simple wedding at 10 o'clock last Thursday morning, Oct. 29, at St. Joseph's Church in Peoria. The ceremony was performed by the groom's brother, Fr. Henry Schubert, assistant pastor at St. Joseph's. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Clement Schubert of Chillicothe. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. William Kross of Chicago. She is a graduate of Lindbloom High School at Chicago. For the past few months she has been employed in the office of the Majestic Cleaning Shop in Peoria. The groom is a son of Vincent Schubert of Henry. He attended the Henry Township High School, and since early Spring has been employed at Holt's in Peoria. The bride chose for her wedding attire, an ensemble suit of spruce green with black accessories, and she wore a corsage of tea roses. Her attendant wore a royal blue ensemble suit with black accessories and a corsage of tea roses. Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served to 10 members of the immediate family at the Sugar Bowl in Peoria, after which the happy couple left for a brief honeymoon to be spent in Chicago. Upon their return to Peoria, they will make their home in an apartment at 1808 Western Avenue, and both will continue with their work.

Funeral services for George J. Schubert of Washington, Ill, who died Sunday at Methodist hospital in Peoria, where he had been a patient for four months, were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday , at St. Patrick's church in Washington with his brother, the Rev . Henry Schubert pastor, officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, Henry. Pallbearers were Charles Schubert, Vincent Schubert, Donald Schubert, Bernard Schubert, Harold Balensiefen, and Gale McCullough. Visitation and recitation of the Rosary was at the Habecker Mortuary in Washington Tuesday evening. A resident of Washington for the past 21 years, he was born in Henry, Dec. 21, 1907, the son of Vincent and Martha Seitcher Schubert. He was married in Peoria Oct. 29, 1936, to Lucille Higgins who survives with three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Foley of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Barbara Walters of Pekin, and Mrs. Irene Lundeen of Rapid City, S.D., and nine grandchildren. The youngest of a family of 11, he is also survived by four brothers, Father Henry of Washington, Leo of Henry, Edward of Granite Falls, Minn., and Clement of Chillicothe, and six sisters, Mrs. Francis Weber of Peoria, Mrs. Ida Balensiefen, Mrs. Rose Whitmer, and Mrs. Dorothy Haas, all of Henry, Mrs. Mary Newhaven of Arcadia, Calif., and Miss Gertrude Schubert of Washington, Ill. He was a member of St. Patrick's church and the parish Holy Name Society. He had been employed as a machine operator for 13 years at the Toledo, Peoria and Western Railroad in East Peoria.
