Funeral services for Mrs. Edward (Ida) Balensiefen, 79, Henry, who died Monday, June 16, at Methodist Hospital, Peoria, where she had been a patient since the previous Saturday, were held at St. Mary's church, at 9:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Henry Schubert of Washington, Ill., brother of the deceased, and the Rev. William Feeney, pastor of St. Mary's, officiated. The Rev. Francis Daum, pastor of St. Patrick's, Camp Grove, was also present in the sanctuary. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers were Orla Stotler, Frank Hagemen, Tony Ziegler, Ray Newton, Leonard Balensiefen and Robert Dewey. The Ries Mortuary was in charge of arrangements and visitation was held there Thursday afternoon and evening with recitation of the Rosary at 8 o'clock. Born June 19, 1889, at Wenona, she was a daughter of Vincent and Martha Seichter Schubert. She was married in 1920 to Edward Balensiefen who preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Harold Balensiefen; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Bischler; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Father Henry Schubert of Washington, Edward Schubert of Granite Falls, Minn., and Clement Schubert, Chillicothe; five sisters, Mrs. Anton (Frances) Weber of Peoria; Mrs. Floyd (Rose) Whitmer and Mrs. John (Dorothy) Haas, both of Henry, Mrs. J. Ernest (Mary) Newhaven of Duarte, Calif., and Miss Gertrude Schubert, Washington, Ill.; also several nieces and nephews. Two brother, Leo and George Schubert preceded her in death. Mrs. Balensiefen was a member of St. Mary's church and the Alter and Rosary Society.
