Resided in Cockermouth when he enlisted in 1777.

Jul 24 - Oct 13, 1776. In Col Jeremiah Eame's company of rangers in the "Upper Coho'os."

Mar 17, 1777 - late 1780 or early 1781. Private in Capt House's company, Col Cilley's regt, Continental Army. In 1780 he reenlisted from Hollis, for six months.
