Adam McChesney was the son of James McChesney and Sarah Patterson. His birth date varies from thr 1750's - 1770's.

Adam McChesney's old home was on the 1937 WPA Historical Homes report, #ROC-421. It claims Adam built his home in about "1775" and was located about 14 miles north of Lexington, VA. It was a rectangular shape 2 story, brick home, with an addition to the west end. He was the 1st owner of record. It was deeded to Geo W McChesney and then to Adam, Jr. It belonged to the McChesneys for 109 years. Informant was Thos S Rees, of Brownsburg, related to Adam McChesney Jr.'s wife, Rees' mother's sister. It includes a map, full description, other owners and a photo.

Which Adam was this?: Finley vs. Tate--O. S. 280; N. S. 99--Bill by Samuel Finley and Mary, his wife, daughter of John Tate, who died December, 1802, testate. John'son, Isaac, removed to Kentucky. John at death left following children, viz: Oratrix Mary (married at that time). Nancy also married then to Adam McChesney, Ellen, Drusilla, Jane, Elizabeth, Clorinda, one other daughter and two sons, all since dead under age, unmarried and intestate. Nancy McChesney died soon after her father, leaving an only child, Jane Eliza McChesney. Her husband, ADAM McChesney, has also died, leaving Jane Eliza his only heir and infant. Ellen is now wife of John Finley of North Carolina. Drusilla has married John D. Ewin of Rockbridge. Jane has married Jacob Vanlear of Augusta. Adam McChesney's Augusta Co., VA Will Book 11, page 168, dated 12th December, 1811. To sister, Sally (now Sally Moffett), the legacy she fell heir to by her grandfather's (Patrick Crawford's) will. Daughter Sally McChesney married William Moffett, the son of Col. George Moffett and Sarah Martha McDowell, on 23 Dec 1806 in Augusta Co., VA (Wm Moffette/Salley McChesney, Presbyterian, Bethel & Windy Cove Churches, line 1500, Augusta Co. VA Marriage Register).

Adam McChesney, died 1812 is listed in the Family Record and Biography by Leander James McCormick (1819-1900), published in 1896, Chicago, p 363.
