Evelyn Lucille Carr Seifert closed the last passage of her life on this earth on December 27, 2014 following a long illness. She was 89 years old. Her family would like to share the following memories of our mother to honor her spirited soul.

Lucille's humble childhood in Checotah, Oklahoma taught her the importance of hard work and sacrifice. She and her sisters supported the war effort during WWII by working at the Douglas Aircraft Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma and she was proud of her legacy as a real life "Rosie the Riveter."

Family was a big part of Lucille's life, because Lucille had a big family. She grew up with seven sisters: Katie Peterson, Tressye Woodward, Irene Schultz, Edith Wilson, Ruth Cox, Peggy Dodd and Juanita Rush. Her only brother, Paul Henry Can, died during WWII and his sacrifice was memorialized by the U.S. Navy in the christening of the USS Carr FFG52. Lucille and her sisters were plank owners of the ship and were passionate about sharing the memories of "brother" with future generations.

On July 25, 1945 she married Walter Seifert of Schulenburg, Texas, and together they raised three daughters in Corpus Christi, Texas. Lucille taught her daughters to be independent and industrious. For many years she worked as a buyer for Lichtenstein's Department Store and then at the Corpus Christi Credit Bureau and Corpus Christi National Bank.

But along with all that hard work, she insisted on having plenty of fun. She was an avid sports fan and was always quick to crack a joke or spin a yarn. In her youth, she enjoyed motorcycle rides with her husband and was known to dabble in a little belly dancing. In a million little ways, she filled her home with mirth, music, love and laughter.

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Brenda Webb and her husband Ralph; her daughter, Carolyn Lohn and her husband Larry; and her daughter, Elaine Culpepper and her husband Lester. Lucille also leaves her legacy to a collection of 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 11 great great-grandchildren.

Interment will follow service at Seaside Memorial Park.
