Robert Lloyd Hoggard, 85, died on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at Tendercare, Midland.
Robert was born in Gladwin on July 19, 1925 to the late Lura M. (Smith) and James F. Hoggard. On Sept . 22, 1945 Robert married his sweetheart Evelyn Krotzer. She predeceased him on Feb. 8, 2009.
Robert worked for Dow Chemical in Special Services from 1943 until he retired in 1981. In Jan. 1981, Robert moved to Mecosta on Boon Lake. He love hunting, fishing, camping and playing the harmonica whenever he was asked.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Bobbie (Larry) Bauder of Sanford, Ruth (Dave) Tree of Midland, Angie (Bill Katsma) Hayward of Caledonia, Becky (Steve) Buckley of Bridgeport, Lura (Brad) Bulock of Charlotte and Louise (Dan) Allen of Baldwin; sons, Vic (Michelle) Hoggard of Bridgeport and George (Bonnie) Hoggard of Decker; 19 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Ida Peasley and Bertha (Russell) Grosteffon.
Robert was predeceased by his sisters, Della Toner and Leta Timmons; brothers, Thomas, Norman, Anthony, Everett and Rev. Wesley Hoggard and two great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 11:00 pm at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, with Pastor Darwin Mowat officiating . The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday Oct. 6 from 5 to 7 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Homer Township Cemetery.
