Barbara Weigel, 100, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Barbara (Senger) Weigel was born May 23, 1914, to Ludwig and Marion (Schmidt) Senger at Hague, ND, and was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen, SD.

In 1936, Barbara found her true love, Frank Weigel. They were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Their union was blessed with three children. The family then moved to Aberdeen, where they made their home. Frank passed away on May 20, 1951, and was buried on Barbara’s birthday that year.

Barbara then began working as a baker at Dixie Cream Donut Shop before becoming employed at Northern State College’s bakery, where she remained until the time of her retirement.

Barbara became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Ipswich, SD, in 2013. She remained there until she was called Home on May 12th.

Blessed to have shared in Barbara’s life are her children: Dennis, Lillian, and Arvilla; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, five sisters, one grandson, and one son-in-law.
