Word was received by Waynesburg relatives last night that Barnett W. Brown, 61, well known Moundsville businessman and and former commissioner of Marshall County, W. Va., died at 8:45 last night, June 20, at his home on Fifth street, Moundsville. Mr. Brown had been ill for the past seven months, following an operation for a brain tumor.

Mr. Brown was an active member of the Moundsville Rotary Club and was well known to Waynesburg Rotarians as the two clubs have been host to each other several times in recent years.

A son of the late Newton and Mary Gordon Brown, he was born August 5, 1888, near Waynesburg and spent his boyhood in the Waynesburg community. He resided at Fall City, Oregon for a number of years, but had lived in Moundsville for more than 25 years.

Mr. Brown was an active member of the Moundsville Christian Church and in civic affairs in the Moundsville community.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Fannie Carter Brown, he leaves one son, and the following brothers and sisters: George Brown, Parkersburg, W. Va.; Miss Margaret Brown, Waynesburg school teacher; Mark Brown, Waynesburg; Ambrose Brown, Martins Ferry, O.; Mrs. Ray Mason, near Kirby; Mrs. Sherman Roberts, Waynesburg; Mrs. William Phillips, Baltimore, Md.; Edgar Brown, Waynesburg, and Mrs. Robert Combs, Moundsville, W. Va.
